As a trial judge in the Probate and Family Court, John heard thousands of cases on all varieties of topics. This exposure to such
a broad range of issues gives him a unique understanding of the concerns and emotions that drive parties deeper into litigation
at great cost to their emotional health and financial well-being.
His committee work includes ten years on the Supreme Judicial
Court Judicial Ethics Advisory Committee, three years on the Supreme Judicial Court Committee on Fee Generating Appointments, and
four years on the Supreme Judicial Court Committee on Professional Responsibility for Clerks of Court. He also served five years on
the Board of Directors of the American Judicature Society.
John earned his B.A. from Yale University and his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School.
He has been married for 36 years and has
four grown children.
